Our Tools

To understand my relationship with technology, I decided to refrain from using it for a short period of time. Through this small experiment I was able to see the impact technology has on my daily routine. Almost immediately I could sense my dependency. My BlackBerry is never more than a few steps away. By separating myself from this small device I felt anxious that I would miss an important email or text. Another crucial device in my life is the laptop that I use constantly. Between homework, an internship and entertainment many hours of my day are spent in front of its screen. In this day and age it is really impossible to escape from technology. My son asked me to put his movie on for him and like second nature I turned on the television. Just like that my experiment was over in less than 30 minutes. Apparently technology and I are intertwined more than I originally believed.
