Our Tools

Technology is something I have become dependent on which I often take for granted. I drive a car so I don't have to trek fifteen miles on foot every week to the supermarket. I cook on the gas stove or in the microwave so I don't have to chop firewood. I own a fridge so I can keep food from spoiling. It only takes me one hour to cook dinner and yet most nights I find it inconvenient. Using technology my entire life has replaced the need to learn how to farm or hunt. Without these inventions, cooking dinner would be a full time job. I have come to rely on technology so much that if it were taken from me, my family would struggle to survive. I view technology in this sense as both a curse and a blessing.
